Im loving that red paint. Like Archie McCardell once said "all IH tractors should be RED! (thus the red 82 series was born) Never too late to go a little crazier and make it look like an IH 1066 Hydro! With the red paint on the 149 frame, it looks kind of close.

Job well done!

Scott

Thanks for the suggestion, Scott. The 1066 Hydro is actually the look I'm going for. It's a beautiful tractor, isn't it?

That is one sweet tractor! This should be an awesome project. I got a local guy that can do the decals if you need them. You may intrigue me to want to start another project! Fathers day gift maybe? I would just have to get the wife's blessing, which is never easy! lol

Hope i can be of help!

A little more progress. front axle and steering links installed last night. Plus, I got a present in the mail.

I discovered that the rear wheels were 7 inch rims even though they had 23 x 10.50 tires on them. Will need to pick up a pair of 8 inch rims. At this point I am waiting on brake pads to finish up the rear end and I still need to fix the manual lift arm. I have some testing to do on a hydraulic lift idea, so that might eliminate the lift arm issue. Not sure yet.

more progress on one front, disappointment on another...

Got the brakes on, and extended the creeper handle to fit the wide frame tunnel cover. (Will apply the decal to the tunnel cover)

Still struggling with the lift arm. Cut off the bottom of the "J" yet was unable to drive the rod up through the arm. I think it doesn't go that way. Looks like it's coming off the tractor. Time to get out the solid carbide twist drills.

Yes, the handle is bent. and extended. I did this to get the NF creeper to fit this WF. It is a little bit longer than usual, I think, but actually easier to operate as a result. Maybe a little unconventional, but certainly functional and with the tunnel cover on, nobody knows.

The options were sourced from ebay, forum sponsors, and forum members.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
