Is there another bracket that mounts to the front end of the frame? I think I am missing a part. Since I have never seen this setup, i'm not sure. I looked online and can't find a bracket in any of the IPBs. Can you send a pic of yours if you have it installed?

Don't get to down on your 1440, my son has one and prefers it to anything in the barn (1541, 317, 318, wheel horse, 582) for cutting grass ! He really likes the 14 hp vanguard and I can tell a difference between the 1440 and 1541 in steering from the weight difference of the engines. His has a helper spring on it (very neat set up) and it makes the manual lift effortless. Looks like I will need to invest in some butt braces myself before long I have already chatted with sam mac about this very thing.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
