Tacosteelersman, seeing how it looks like the coolant jug is blown out, I would check the freezing point on the antifreeze before it blows a hole in the block. Also who knows how long overdue the engine oil and hydro fluid is.

I agree. The plan will be full service including thermostat, all fluids, all filters (air, fuel, oil, n hydro) new fuel lines, clean gas tank n replace grommets, plugs, cap n rotor, find cheaper plug wires than 50$ each. Hope to get it running good, then warm it up and adjust valves. But only after a compression test and carb cleaning with gaskets. Also exhaust manifold gasket.
Anything I missed? Since I'm away from home for 2 weeks I'm gonna get everything ordered. I went to parts tree n got almost all the KB #s I need.

Mike Lamar is making me 2 sets of spark plug wires for my 2182's. As soon as I get them I'll let you guys know how they fit.
Is it just me or do we seem to be having a run on 2182's lately?

Great project....bringing the 2182 back from near death! I think you will find that you have what many consider the best gas engine powered Cub Super ever made.
Sam has long touted the 2182 as a great machine. People have taken note and are joining the ranks of 2182 owners. Like Sam said, seems to be a run on them lately. I think the secret is out, the 2182 will be just as sought after as the diesel Cubs.

I kinda wonder about production numbers on the 2182s being a lot higher than the other supers, I have seen many on CL for sale.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
