I'm with Jonathan on the compression fitting. I usually only use them with a soft tubing like copper and with a lower pressure, like fuel line on an old tractor. The brass sleeve and copper tubing combo have never leaked for me, but when you use harder materials it can become a problem. The flared fittings are just fine.
Also, remember that Cub Cadet used a 37° JIC fitting instead of 45°. Your local auto parts store will probably not have the 37° on hand unless they're a darn good store. I know that 45° can be tightened down enough that it will seal, but please get the right fitting. I know Baum Hydraulics in Lincoln, NE has a good selection of them for a very reasonable price and you'll get them fast.

Yes, my mistake. Still the next size bigger is going to be 1/2" and I don't know right off how thick the body is. If I have a chance, I will take one apart this week and have a look.

Well, until I get the details worked out to connect the valve so it looks "like it came from the factory" I sacrificed some used lift lines. I cut and flared the ends (jic 37 deg) and will run hoses I had made up to the front outlets. The jic to npt adapters pictured will be replaced with jic to jic fittings to attach to the hoses. I like the idea of reaming the valve outlets to fit the 3/8"push connector but the o-ring seat would have to be also enlarged since it is set up for the 5/16" o-ring on the original fitting. I appreciate all the great ideas being suggested here, my goal is to have a trouble free system I would be proud say I did and doesn't look like it was cobbled together just to get by.

Well, I didn't find what I thought. The counterbore for the o-ring is actually tapered and there won't be much of it left after making the hole 3/8". Sorry for the suspense and then nothing. I Thought I would have one modified by today.

heres how we did it used old set of lines and some fittings and hoses and she looks like its posta be there think it cost round a hundred bucks and he allready had the parts tractor
