No, I havnt done anything to the governor and I don't know a thing about adjusting one. Ill have to read that section of the manual before I mess with it.

I didn't get around to changing the line tonight because I ordered a new wood lathe awhile back and it came today. Spent all evening getting it into my woodshop and put together. After tomorrow, I don't work the next 10 days so Ill have plenty of time to get this tractor sorted out, possibly get the 2165 put back together and spend some time makin' shavin's with my new lathe!

May have to hire someone to bushhog my lawn soon!!!

Changing the kinked fuel line did nothing. I still havnt messed with the governor because the manual has a warning that it shouldn't be messed with and Im a little nervous to mess with it. Beyond that, Im at a loss as to wear to go next.

Pretty sure the Kohler service manual has a trouble shooting section.

Yep and I had checked everything it said to check except the governor setting so I went ahead and adjusted it. No change. So I played with the sensitivity adjustments and it seems to run the same no matter where I move the spring to. Im at a loss. Ive currently given up on it and Im working on my 2165. I have to get something going so I can mow. Once its running, Ill get back to the 1864. Im not spending much time on it though. Ill go back through the fuel system again which is silly because its all new and if that don't fix it, someone on CL will get a deal on a nice mower because Im done with it.

I may not be far away. Keep me posted. I could trade you a Cub that is running and no apparent current problems.

We have all been where you are, so do not get discouraged. Maybe there is a local small engine mechanic that could give you a hand.

Does engaging the choke slightly make the symptoms better, worse or no impact?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
