Several have offered tests and possible solutions. Now we should sit back and let the OP discuss his actions and outcomes.

Oh, The OP did use oil. And it worked, For now. I just can't see doing this every couple months. The originals did not need it every couple months. Leads me to believe there was another underlying issue is all. Hey for a quick fix I guess its ok.. Like I needed to cut the grass 2 weeks ago kind of fix. I am just not into short term fixes. I mean if the bendix gets stuck that easily why not pull it apart and trim a couple thousandths off the shaft? CLean up the engagement points.

Kohler makes a lube for the helix on the shaft, I have some.
I can provide pix if necessary. it is the consistency of lubriplate white grease. They caution to apply lightly. That said, Collected dust/dirt in real life impedes the sliding motion as it collects on the helix/worm. In colder weather, below freezing. it is more problematic. Now this is just some old man's findings and not meant to be a rebuttal or argumentative. When I get one that likes to stick (M-18's) it gets a shot of garage door lube or what ever lube I have handy----till next time. |

This site needs a "nether" region or even a sewer section for when topics deteriorate to this level.
Then you guys can take your pissing matches there. |

11 volts at Starter. Forgot to choke, then 11 dropped to 10.8 and started. 14.2 while running at starter. Because the outfit I bought the starters from told me to just keep the previous starter (presumed defective) I look forward to putting a little oil on that one, and installing it to see what happens. I'll post results

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
