The last repro #40 got painted today. It will be doing hard time on reshaping the back yard for a deck.

I painted it IH white because I didn't have anything else handy. It's a worker, so I really was not too concerned about aesthetics. Just don't want it to rust away.

Steve, that will look great but you need to make some more of those. I wish I had ordered one from you when you had them made.

Todd, come on up to Nashville and bring your trailer. I assure you that I would send you home with a lot more than just the BB! Of course, you might not have a home to go to if your wife knew what you were up to! -lol

Anyway, I'm on my way out to see if I can remember how to assemble the repro BB. I just have a bag full of nuts, bolts, and brackets and no instruction manual...

Pics from the last repro #40 assembly. Still amazes me at how well these turned out. It is literally a work of art...

Speaking of work... after assembly I put it on the 1450 and thrashed it as hard as I could. One of the guys that got one of these has never had it off of his tractor since the day he installed it. He always raves about how handy it has been for him and what a great job it does.

This was my first time actually putting one to use. I was more than impressed. It's no match for a full size box blade, but it did everything I asked of it. Only thing holding it back was more traction in reverse. Just had to take smaller bites when I needed to push backwards. Per his suggestion, I used an extended lift bar to increase the lift height. Made a huge difference.

Accidentally backed into the house foundation a couple of times. I might need to go back and repair the cinder block.

As I mentioned, please don't hate on the IH white. It was all I had at the time!

That is awesome! I wasn't a member here when you started making these. Do you still build them? (I'll admit, the answer may have been in your thread, but it's really long and I didn't read all the way through it.)

Link to thread with comparison pics to the Original IH #40.

Pretty much identical but repro is much heavier gauge. Original weighs in at 70lbs. and repro is 110lbs.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
