Eric and I experimented with coat hanger wire and the results of about 20 minutes of bending and cutting resulted in a reasonable facimile of a wire bail. It fit the O and seems to work ok. Not sure how it will hold up but for now we have the float option for our efforts.

Got some work done on a couple of tractors today. I put a M18 in my 782 a while back that appears wasn't out of a cub so the crank was shorter. When I put the pto on it, it put the engine in a bind and wouldn't turn over. I got that straightened out today and now just waiting on the battery to charge.

I also tore the Onan in the 982 apart today. I had it apart a while back and managed to drop a lock washer in the intake and mangled the piston. I was hoping I could save the piston but after pulling it, I saw the ring grooves were crushed. So it looksl ike I'm in the market for a new piston.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
