Couple random pictures behind the house back in the woods.
One of those kitty cats again.
Then a picture of a good one, and the last two are over a licking branch, a place where we get pictures every year.

Seems his neck is starting to swell a bit? That's a mighty fine good looking buck!

Default Lake Erie Fishing 2014

Since this is also a fishing place, and that is my number 1 hobby, I thought I'd post a few successes from this year.

Lake Erie is our playground, Eastern Basin which we will fish anywhere from Erieau to Turkey Point here on the Ontario Side. Main place we fish from is out of Port Bruce Ontario where if we head out about 12 miles we can see the shores of PA on a clear day.

In the middle of the dog days of summer in August we normally head 12-15 miles from shore to hit the colder waters of 65-70 feet depth to downrig for salmon, walleye and steelhead.

Salmon in Lake Erie are getting pretty scarce, we had a good fishery of coho salmon which were all stocked but that stocking program ended years ago. There are a few free-run fish still out there breeding, but they are rare.

Walleye are getting plentiful if you know what you are doing, there are still some 2003 class fish out there which are absolute monsters like my last picture. 2003 being the best recruitment year measured, it has not been as good a recruitment year since.

Steelhead are still stocked, mostly on the US side which make their way to our side in their annual clockwise migration. Years past we slayed the steel but this year we struck out, having one on the line...it jumped clear out of the water, then skittered on the surface for maybe 10 feet, spat the spoon...smiled and headed for the deep. A worthy opponent!

We fish off our boat which my wife and I bought new in 2001, a 23 foot cuddy cabin with 200hp Volvo I/O with SX outdrive. Sleeps 2, has head and a nice electronics package I upgraded 2 years ago with Garmin chartplotter and Depth Sound, Fish Graph and Raymarine VHF. She is a sweet rig called Caseys Dream, named for my father. She is good big water boat with high sides and deep hull...and she skoots nice with the top down and the trim just right, cutting a nice line at 43MPH.

We fish with combinations of 2 Scotty downriggers, 10 lb orange fish-cannonballs, Dipsey divers or Walker Deeper Divers and 27lb Leadcore in either 3, 5, 7 or 10 colours. Rule #2 is...always have a leadcore out the chute!

Rule #1 is always send the temp probe down, learned the hard way that there is a science to this!
Rule #2 is always start with a watermelon spoon...always!
Rule #3 its always time for Lime, BudLight Lime

Wife with a wally, leadcore, 10 colours, orange crush moonshine glow

Caught off dipsey diver, 150 out, setting 3, greasy chicken wing Michigan stinger

Caught this pig also on leadcore, 7 colours on a Nascar Michigan stinger.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
