Well I got the 782 running Saturday morning. And had it running again today. It was purring like a kitten while I was running the carb dry. It's now back together and ready for the upcoming show in a couple of weeks. I think I might have jumped the gun a little though. I'm going to try to get the 4 red cubs I have together and take a group photo tomorrow. I need to get them all out anyway to get a push mower out that a friend is taking.

I enclosed the front side of my 42" cast end deck to see if it helps keep grass clippings from coming out the front and covering my shoes and air filter. The front of these cast end decks is cut out about 1 1/2" above the bottom of the blades for some reason. The only reason I can see why IH did this is for mowing in tall grass. In shorter grass, half of the clippings come out the front and not the side like they should. Hopefully, we'll get some more rain this week and I'll actually get to mow again this year. I've only mowed once since April.
The front roller was something I added after I added a few bald spots to my yard. With the blade hanging out below the front of the deck, it would definitely take out any high spots. Here's a clutch spring compressor I made a while back using MattG's drawings. I haven't used it yet though. A couple weeks ago, I swapped motors in my 100. I pulled out the black replacement K301 and put in the K301 that came out of my 126. The black engine is getting painted red and going in the 149.

Let me know how that deck mod works. I've noticed the same thing...I'm covered in grass (and I've had to mow weekly) by the time I'm through with the yard.

I washed the IH Cub Cadet model 71. Noticed it was getting dusty and dirty as I dont believe I washed the tractor since May 11. I also put back on the Sears wheelweights. Been using the tractor to get firewood put up. Soon I'll need to put the IH 42" push blade on and tirechains.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
