Getting this off my chest.
Why lately everyone scores a deer by 140, 150, 160, etc! I guess I'm old school? My deer are scored as an 8, 10, 12 point. 14, etc. NIK, My rant is over.

There is no way for someone to get the true size of a rack by telling them it's a 8pt, 10pt exedra. Because said deer could be 10" spread or 20" spread. Tines could be short or long, thick (mass) or thin. For instance. One year I found a set of sheds from a 1 1/2 year old 10 pointer. Nothing special other than being a 10 pt. But when someone says 10 point your mind automatically thinks big. It prolly scored, just guessing 60 inches. A 3 1/2 year old nice 10 pointer around here is in the 130's - 140's. Something with mass, good tine length, and main beams with a 16-18" spread. (inside) So you get more of a mental picture of the size of the rack. Scoring comes from the Boone and Crocket scoring system. Years ago the majority of deer were killed as 1 1/2 year olds around here. They were all from spikes to 8 pointers, and that's all that was known, because few people ever looked at a rack as anything but a bonus with the meat the deer supplied. Non selective hunting. Deer management started and land managers wanted to get a accurate way to see what size deer they could grow on their properties they were managing, so the only way was with the B&C scoring system. Pretty hard with just the number of points. With aging the deer and the score of it's antlers one would know if the bucks of a age class were growing larger or smaller or remaining the same, then things in their management program needed changing or not, and that's a whole other thing. The short answer. To better gauge the size of the rack

shed hunting
Forgot to post pictures from a couple weeks ago after our first shed hunt of the year. No, Colt didn't find them, but his day will come.
The antlers you see are from a basic 8 point we've had around for five years. Not a giant by any measure, especially for a five year old deer, but we have quit a history with this buck over the years. The two that have been chewed on by porcupines are his from last year (2013) and the whole one was from this past season (2014) found all three of them within 30 yards from each other. I think we finally found his winter area

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
