|
The wife (Nancy) harvested a doe on Christmas eve. Her first with my crossbow. It's a tad stiff in the picture, but she's a happy camper. It weighed 105# and was 5 years old.

zombie groundhogs
I'm dealing with zombie groundhogs. Yesterday and today I had a couple that were walking around in circles. Put 6 rounds from a 22 pistol into 1 and 12 rounds into the other and they didn't die. I'm positive I hit them with each shot because they moved with each shot. First one got away while I was reloading. Second one needed to be finished off with a few kicks in the head. I may not be the best shot in the world but at 6 feet and when you can see the entry hole in the head and it keeps going................? You tell me. Something strange is going on. Never seen a ground hog that you could get that close to. What do you guys think?

Sounds like rabies to me, wash your hands good and keep pets away from the blood. My mom had one in her yard that was acting really weird and I was able to walk up to if and smack it on the head with a bat, I've also had ones that got hit with 7 rounds of .22 mag and were still alive.

Thing is that no matter what something may have or not, a shot to the head or vitals it's dead... Are you sure it wasn't cocktail hour and they were only shadows from birds flying over head that you thought were groundhogs because you had watched the movie Caddyshack last night? Just sayin'  Sorry not much help...
