I started it up today after sitting since Sunday and not one bit of smoke came out the exhaust, looks like it's a keeper.

I ordered the new fuel pump last night and hopefully it's here on Friday cause the wife is off and I can stay late to tinker.

Yes, I am very pleased with the outcome so far. If everything goes my way I'm going to pull the rearend this weekend to fix the trunion and replace the fluid/filter and then it will be ready to be put to work. I have some side panels on a junker out back and the same tractor will donate it's seat and mounting plate.

Why do you need to pull the rear to fix the trunnion? More wrong with it, other than the out of square hole?

The cork gasket isn't leaking so I think I will let that sleeping dog lie. I guess I could fix the trunion in the tractor but it will probably be easier with the rearend out.

I got the trunion repaired today, i did it in the tractor and it was pretty easy. My issue before was it didn't have neutral and that was caused by a previous trunion repair, whoever fixed it before made the hole about a 1/4" shorter than it should be so the trunion was just flopping around inside the other piece. Once that was repaired and i got the linkage adjusted i changed the fluid and filter, i'm still waiting for the fuel pump so i can put the tins back on the engine.
Somebody had a homemade lift kit on the fenders to make them sit higher so they were all bent to sh1t so they got tossed in the dumpster and i got a different set off a parts tractor out back. The side panels were also stolen from a parts tractor but i will probably buy a nicer set when the time comes to paint it, the seat is junk but at least it give me something other than the fender to sit on.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
