Todd that is part of the face lift! I've never had bear meat before but my wife is as mean as one! Ok maybe she's a cuddly as a baby bear.

Nice work. Are you using any chemicals in taking the paint of or just the wire wheel?

So far just the wire wheel. But I'm thinking of using some stripper sparingly. Keeping away from the gaskets. At least to get some of it off.

Heh, look what I found tonight when I took the rearend cover off to drain the fluid!
I've checked each gear for a missing piece, nothing. So I don't know if the PO had a problem and fixed it or what, but nothing seems to be broken.
The fluid, and inside looked very clean, so it may have been changed as a new gear was installed, only the PO would know I guess.

Your resto/clean-up is looking great! If it were me I'd double check and triple check the rear end,its easy to miss the obvious sometimes as for cleaning up the rear what I did on my 1200 was wire wheel the devil out of it and use one of those soft spongy sanding pads to clean it up then primed it. Your doing a great job , keep it up!
