I have my come-a-long ready to go.
Is this where you attach to the M20 to lift it out?

You should have a lifting lug on each side to balance it.

Thanks Sam,
I'm glad I checked, it was missing on the other side and my 1872 had both sides so I'm borrowing a lug from the M18. I should get the engine lifted out this week while waiting on my Flywheel puller to get here. take care

Ok arranged and cleaned up the garage this week while waiting for the Puller to arrive and today it did.
Flywheel popped off with a little patience. I also sprayed it periodically this week with PB blaster knockoff. I alternated the hole sets that I used on the flywheel and thats when it popped. Also tapped the center bolt with a hammer as I tightened the puller. here are some pics, just want to be thorough for whoever reads through this thread. hate it when you read a thread and never find out what the solutions were. Should get new Stator on tomorrow and will update after I get it put back together and fire it up.

Ok gang, we have this one solved.
Charging system is fixed. I put on the new stator(tested it, no shorts to ground like the old one), put engine in and hooked everything back up and no shorts/blown fuse and getting 14vdc off the voltage regulator. I also put in a new coil while the flywheel was off, the PO included a new one in the purchase, so Ill keep the old one for a spare on the 1872 or 2082. Thanks to all and time to wrap this thread. I'm sure I'll have other projects but for now time to get ready for mowing. Take care!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
