Well, pulled both the Lo-Boys in today. Did the tire/wheel swap on both tractors. Decided to go ahead and see if I could get the 185 to fire up. Finished installing the ignition. New plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Filed the points. Put some fresh gas in, no leaks. Hooked up a battery and no smoke rolled. S/G didn't want to crank it over so I took it apart. Cleaned the brushes and the comm with emry cloth, put it back on.... MUCH BETTER. Whirled it right over. Actually, it fired right up! Ran pretty good too! Here's a vid after I'd had it running once, so it was warm. But, it started almost that fast the first time! (OK, well I had to choke it the first time.
) It doesn't have a driveshaft in it, as the clutch is bad, so I removed it today. Hydraulics work, and so did the ammeter (kinda, it's not centered) and the oil light. Lights didn't work, but I didn't look into that any. PTO worked too! Click on the pic for the vid. lowboy.jpg |

Put a new set of boots on the front of the 185 this weekend. I bought that other 154 Lo-Boy for the narrow tires and wheel weights. Switched them over last weekend, and ordered new tires for the completely SHOT ones on the front. After I fix up the 154 and sell it, the 185 will be getting a brand new set of Firestone 23° ags on the rear.
(Probably need to get a clutch in it next. ) IMG_20140406_181519.jpgIMG_20140406_181536.jpg |

Thanks Nick and Sam! I don't want to mount any more of them anytime soon. Those narrow tires with a tube were a bear! Easy to pinch a tube (which I didn't thankfully). I did, however, use a de-scaler and wire wheel on the inside of the rusty, rusty, rims and prime and paint the inside before mounting the new tires.

Thanks Allen! I like them. I think it will make it steer easier too. Just sitting there, it turn a lot easier than before.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
