I wouldn't go 50/50 because you want the mix to evaporate as quickly as possible. I would go with a couple of table spoons in a glass of tap water. As long as it feels slippery on the decal and not just wet it will work. Another good trick is to use painter's tape to set up your straight edge so that you can get the decal on plumb. Then just pull the tape off after the decal sets up or whenever you are satisfied.

A few more pics.
I think what I am going to do is, put this 1811 together, and add the power steering to the 782 when I begin to restore it. That way, I will have the time to find all the parts for the power steering. Thanks for the tips on the stickers. |

Man oh man, just seeing that 1811 in that picture makes me drool for putting in power steering. At this point it would be so easy to do it compared to doing it like I did it with everything in place. I understand your motive because it does take a while to gather all of the components. If your 782 ends up like your 1811 then you will have an easy time installing ps in it. I am amazed that someone entrepreneur hasn't come out with a ps kit for the thousands of CC out there.

A few more pics...A before and after pic of the hydro lift lines, and the engine was put back in along with the battery box.
I also rebuilt both ends of the drive shaft...forgot to take pics of the ends before I re-installed it ![]() |

If that first pic of the driveline is an after pic, it looks like your rag joints are too tight. Everything else is looking top notch. Good job.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
