Mine is woodworking, specifically woodturning, and now more recently, the tractors.

Oh, if she had only spent $300 on her machine, I wouldn't have even noticed. The one she got was more than this 1864. The one she wanted was $15,000 I love her to death but I don't think I ever plan to spend 15 grand on a sewing machine.

Okay, I got problems. Today it wont run. It was running beautifully the other day and then it gets parked for a few days and now wont run. I did change out the choke cable and thought maybe I did something wrong so I unhooked it to operate the choke manually like I was before and still the same thing. It will start and run for 3-5 seconds and then die. Any ideas?

Sounds like a fuel problem.
Is it getting fuel to the carb?
Is the shut off solenoid on the carb working?
If it is below freezing could you have a blockage in the fuel supply someplace?

Turn the gas on. Hehe

It sounds like a fuel restriction, maybe ice?

How would I check the shut off solenoid?

I did run it out of gas the other day so I suppose I could have sucked some crud into the lines. My fuel tank grommets came today so I suppose Ill go ahead and tear it apart and get everything cleaned up and replace all the fuel lines and go from there. I was hoping it would be okay until it was a bit warmer. Currently 11 degrees.

CH's tend to be hard starters when you run them dry. I use a gear oil bottle that has just a pin hole in the tip with gas in it to squirt some gas down the carb throat for one with a dry carb. Remember it has to suck gas a long way from the tank before it gets to the carb. You can also unhook the fuel line before the filter and with the bottle squirt fuel into the line to prime it.

Hello. If you can use your mouth and blow into the tank, hold it for a few seconds, you can force gas thru the fuel pump and into the carb. I have done this many times. Hard to get the gas smell off your face.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. It has ran since running out of gas.

I worked night shift so I fell asleep for a bit. Heading to the parts store in a few to pick up some new fuel line and filter so I can get everything replaced.

I have one that if it sit's for more than a few days it's a hard starter and it only has about 15 hours on it with new fuel line and all. Fuel in the carb evaporates then it's give it a squirt time or crank the crap out of it. I don't like beating the starter to death.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
