HTML Code:
you'll have to drill and tap the pump input shaft.
IMHO ..drilling and taping a hardened shaft is not for the faint of heart

Agree and angle head drill like the one in Sam picture is a PITA to level in a narrow space. Time to pay a visit too Mr Drill Doctor or the grinder, you gone need a sharp one!

Frank. I take this picture from Google, mine never look like that it's an inheritance from my father I don't even know how old they are.

Actually it was not all the hard to do. I used an old adapter as a drill guide and the shaft is only case hardened so just go slow and it's no big deal.

Also I only drilled it to the point that it intersected the factory hole for the roll pin. Tapped it 1/4-28.

Sam, what adapter is needed for the engine output? I had assumed it would be one from an 1882 but i can't even find it in the parts lookup.

1872 already has the proper adapter. Standard Kohler/ Cub. Four 1/4" bolts on a 2.2" bolt circle.

You can sell the 1864 shaft to someone with a 1772 or 1572 that wants to do a CV conversion.

I have 2 sets of 1864 parts, and the 1772 and the 1572. The 1572 does not need it now and the 1772 does so it is a future project as well.

Just to be clear, I only need the adapter from Jeff on the rear. The 1882 CV adapter will bolt up to the Kohler crank adapter? Thinking about doing this.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
