Rescued this early build 682 from certain death. Now that the boys are older this will be a good project tractor.

1864 restoration...ready for action!
Just finished up a restoration on an 1864 that I purchased back in October of 2018...This is the third cyclops style tractor that I have restored in the last three years. My first was Dad's 1641, followed by a second 1641 and now the 1864.
I have a 1450 that is waiting in the wings plus various implements that I would like to get started on...so...when I finish the next few "honey do" projects, I will be get back to it. |

Dad's 1641 and my 1641 restored
Ok...hope you aren't getting tired of my tractor pics...you see I finally figured out how to upload the pictures, so I am making up for lost time by posting them...
The story goes like this...Dad always said that Cub Cadet/International tractors were the best...he had a 129, then a 149 and finally he bought a new 1641 in 1994. Well...back in the day I was a Deere man...so I didn't really appreciate how well these tractors were really built. However, when he passed away, I decided to restore his 1641 to like new condition in his memory. After tearing the tractor completely apart, I realized how well they were made! I have since grown to enjoy using them and restoring them. My Dad's tractor has now been designated as the "show" tractor...shortly after restoring it, I found another 1641 and restored that...which will be used for snow duty. Finally I found the 1864 which has been designated as the mower...so now I have one tractor to mow, one to blow and one for show!! Ha! Ha! |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
