You guys are funny. I have it indexed, and I'll try for a better picture. I took a few and that was the best I got, so I'll try again tonight with a flashlight to brighten it up.

Does having cataract surgery 2 days ago qualify as an excuse. Otherwise I wouldn't be sitting at this computer all this beautiful day because I'm not allowed to do anything else. I wish I could say I'm being funny but I'm not.

Good pics.
A blind man on a gallopin' horse goin' 60 mph in the fog could make out those marks and they look correct to me. Used camshafts on eBay don't seem outrageously expensive. I think if it were me, after the amount of money already spent, I'd have to try another camshaft just to put my mind at ease. It could be resold if not used. What say you, ol' George? |

Gut feeling is the rod is fat, with no apparent witness marks of a cam hit, wished he had a factory rod that clears, that would tell the tail.
-----the pix are clearer, thanks. I should pull the engine/pan on my 1650 and have a look see. I prolly should, and go .010 under as it rattles some and I've wanted to do it for a while, but as one ages, the enthusiasm diminishes. FWIW: with the piston at top dead center (timing marks aligned on flywheel) that is when it fires, continue rolling in direction of travel another revolution and at TDC again, the exhaust valve should be just closing and the intake is just opening (at that point both valves are open just a bit)(it is called overlap) that pretty much tells you that the crank/cam gears are in proper alignment. I've seen some weird shit over the years as far as gear alignment. ----Just trying to eliminate the variables. |

Finally got back to the project. I checked that suggestion and it looks great. Thanks for your help everyone.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
