Thanks guys!

Alvy,

I can definitely take you up on those cans. Here's a pic of what I used. It's Majic Cub Cadet Yellow (PN 8-20944). I'll need more for the fenders and I took the last my TSC had on the shelf. Not sure when they'll get more.

Yeah, I've had boogers that were easier to work with than this paint when it's semi-dry. I was sooooo flippin' mad at this stuff today! Can't really blame the paint; spray-can, no hardener, etc.

I can say that I used another white paint on the hood than the Majic stuff and while it doesn't have the shine, it does dry MUCH faster. The Majic skinned off, but was still drying under the surface. You could move it around with your finger, even after a few days. Fine line between getting it to flow, and forever-wet. Flies in the paint won't help the odds.

that is the exact same paint I used on my 125. I'm pretty happy with it. I used their "IH White for me wheels and hood, etc.

Paint has a real nice shine to it but I don't think I'd be very happy with a paint that was still tacky a week later.
I also used rattle can on my tractors, but use the Cub Cadet paint. Yes it's pricey but lays down well and is dry to the touch in less than ten minuets.
To each their own. But you definitely have a great shine

Andy,
I used that one to do the 127 with and it is different than what I have, the school bus yellow or safety yellow is not as bright of a yellow than the cub cadet yellow that you used. I will see however if I have a can or two of the CC yellow. The majic paint reminds me of the top of macaroni and cheese when it sits for a while and gets that skin on it. Meanwhile underneath is still liquid for almost a month. I will say that when it finally dries its ok. Hope to see some pics today of the hood

Your O is coming along great. Sad to hear your paint woes.

Heard a lot of negative comments about TSC's new line of Majic paints. I wouldn't use 'em, but hope it works out for you.

I think everything will be fine. The yellow seems to be doing fine. The white was the real issue. I don't think it was because of a different color, but more because I applied it heavy, thinking that it was laying flat and I could do that to cover up the fly's paint angel. Didn't work.

The fact that i needed to re-do the paint is what brought out the issue with the forever-wet state of the paint. I checked the hood and the paint is dry to the touch with the other paint applied. Not perfect, but still pretty good. Good enough that I'm thinking of installing the decals over it. We'll see how it looks in the sun.

It's getting there!

I think I'll try the same stuff on my O when I get back to working on it. I'm not going for a show quality job more of a preservation than a restoration.

Oh yeah! MUCH faster. Someone must have made that pulley. I've not seen another like it. I have it on this tractor because I really don't see us using it for more than possibly pulling a little cart around once in a while. if there's some big pulling to be done, i have the other "O" with the 10-horse in it!

The pulley does make a huge difference in the speed of the tractor. Here's a quick vid of it in action.

As for the rear of the foot rests, I removed the lift rod and simply used a steel dowel the right size instead.

What size tires and wheels do you have on the back of that O?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
