I used a SEW kit. It was cheaper for me this way. I think it turned pretty good.

It runs really good. Plenty of power and fairly quiet.

Default Working on the cubs

Got my 3 point hitch put back on my worker 782. Cleaned up my nicer 782 and swapped the mowing deck.

I tried to start up my 782 today with the snow blade on it to get ready for the snow/ice we have coming in on Sunday, and it took a while to start, which it never did... and then it stopped working all together. I smelled something get hot so I lifted the seat to look under there, I figured I melted the solenoid or something... NOPE. I melted the negative battery terminal. It looks like a solder drip in the bottom of the battery tray. I'm not sure what happened there, but now I need a new battery. I'm guessing it was an unclean connection that got real hot.

Tore apart my 1250 and discovered almost half of the cylinder wall is scored pretty seriously. Needs to go from .010 to .020 (maybe even .030 if they're bad enough. I'm gonna tear it down to bare block and see what a machine shop says about it. So much for using with my snowthrower this season.

Glued up a few new brake pads.
A 7.5" x 7.5" x 1/8" piece of friction mat'l from McMaster Carr will yield a dozen pads.

Not today, but Saturday I finished getting the 129 ready for winter. Swapped the ag tires for turfs and chains and added 217 lbs of weight. My homemade wheel weights are 50lbs each, IH weights are 26lbs each, and the weight bar on the hitch is 65lbs.

What do you use to cut the material? I have never dealt with friction material but it seems like it would be rough on cutting edges.

Score it w/a drywall knife and it will break on the line.
The nip the corners off each piece with a side cutter.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
