Nice upgrade! I like the "well" for the grease fitting you made

The depth of the threads on the fitting was greater than the thickness of the pivoting round tube, so I took a piece of .250 steel, drilled and tapped for the fitting, then welded it to the tube (after drilling a small hole behind it for the grease to enter the shaft area)

It's obviously homemade, I won't be winning any prizes for looks, but it does work well.

Moving forward!

Cork gasket was in severe need of replacement, and I also picked up a rear lift assembly and sleeve hitch adapter! So pumped!

Nice additions! Seems like every hydro I get, the cork gasket needs replaced- almost a given! Having the tractor clean is more important than anything, which looks like yours cleaned up good

Got the rear lift installed, added greaseways and fittings for the main support pivot and lift arm attachment at the rear of the tractor (basically the other two pivot points). Moves nice and smoothly.

It's also leak free now. Real nice to to not have to put shop rags under the tractor every time I park it.

Relined the brake pads too, let the glue cure overnight and will install next weekend.

That cub sure lucked out when it found a home at your place.

Great work and photos.

By the way, what type of glue did you use for the lining?

QL is looking good & I'm liking that heavy duty tail light in the 3205.

I've used JB weld to reline a few brake pads. Clean everything up good, mix & apply the JB then stick'em in the vice overnight.

I used what I had in the shop, which is Seal-All. It has a relatively high tensile strength and resists oil and gasoline. (Not that the braking system really sees either of those). Had JB Weld too, as Oak suggests, but I wanted to give this stuff a try. More curiosity than anything else.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
