More progress on the build now that I'm back from a couple weeks vacation.
Working on the K321. Removed the oil seals, piston, balance gear, valves. Honed the cylinder, installed new piston, rings, rod and intake valve. The exhaust valve I received in the rebuild kit was larger than the exhaust valve in this engine, so I cleaned the old valve up, then lapped both valves. Seats look great, so this will be fine I think. Installed the oil seals, but seated the back one too deep. removed it and am waiting for a new one to arrive. Painted the block and reinstalled the oil pan. Once I get the new oil seal, this puppy is going back together. I need to pull the PTO off another engine to get one with double springs. That will get rebuilt and reinstalled later this week. Got the fenders bolted on and the new seat installed. I really like these high back seats. Ordered a NOS dash tin. That goes on next. Waiting for miller tire to get the firestone tri ribs in later this month. Obligatory pics attached.

NOS dash tin from ccspecialties, foot treads from xtrememotorworks. Engine is coming together now. PTO overhaul is next, once I get the replacement rear oil seal installed.

Great job so far. Don't make it too nice or you won't want to use it for fear you'll scratch it. That's the problem with my red 129.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
