The weak link is really the housing that contains the reduction gear the wheel/tire bolts to.

I have welded a couple, and know of a couple that went to the scrap yard due to the the broken housing.

Just wanted to make a quick post. I finally got the Lo-Boy finished up enough to run it. I obviously had the engine running earlier in the year, but it ended up having some major driveline and clutch issues. On top of missing some key parts. Ended up using the 154 for a parts machine for now, as it ended up being in even worse shape than I though. At another point in time, I will see if it (154) will run. The 185 still needs some parts, but it's fine for now. Mainly wiring, and electric as the lights, and indicators and the ammeter don't work. But, it runs, and I went out and hooked it to a 20' camper and pulled it around! I'll post some pics of it tomorrow, although, it really doesn't look any different. At least now I have a tractor with 3pt!

I just caught up with this thread and it's way cool stuff! I saw a Lo-Boy for sale near me about 5 years ago and passed as I literally have absolutely no use for one. That doesn't mean I wouldn't mind having one anyhow. Sooo cool!

Thanks for documenting your time with them! I hope you get one sorted out soon!

Interesting thread... took me a couple days to catchup.

I picked up a 154 a few weeks back for $300 but havent really done much with it yet other than pull some spring tine harrows around the yard. I have a 6' front blade I want to get on it before winter, it has the 3pt and I have a few rear attachments I can use with it, no mower with it but I have enough mowers so dont think I'll look for one. I am looking for a grill tho if you come across an extra one. No plans to use the rear pto for anything at this point, its just gonna be a general yard chore tractor.

What kind of hitch do you have for pulling the camper trailer? Got a pic of that? I need to build something so I can move our 18' with it.

happen to have a pic with the Lo-Boy parked near my '46 Ford 2N... it doesnt look alot smaller than the Ford but there is actually quite a bit of differance as far as capabilities go.

I snapped a couple pics. I robbed the seat off my 682 so I could play. (It's waiting for me to put a motor in it.) But, it isn't staying. It has a sliding adjuster on the bottom, and I'm only 5'7", so I can barely touch the foot pads with the added height.

Lance, I'll post pics of the hitch, but it isn't much to look at. I just used a regular 3pt drawbar. It will look different when I get a chance. I have a quick-attach for it, but I hadn't picked up a new 3rd link. When I get it, I'll make the drawbar a full 3pt with a receiver hitch so it' easy to go from all the different ball sizes. Also, I will be making a permanent drawbar for it....... if I keep it. Thinking about sending it down the road, and buying that 656 I borrowed the other day......

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
