I got it running!! Turns out I didn't have a carb issue at all. I had an ignition problem. I noticed after turning the key on and off a few times, the shut off solenoid would stop clicking. I started looking for a wiring issue and when I bumped the wires to the ignition switch, I heard an arc. I pulled the connector and all the wires were really loose. I got them all pushed back in there real good so they are not arcing anymore and it fired right up and ran beautifully.
At some point, Im going to have to replace all the wiring. Hopefully someone starts making a harness for these soon. I as told if I pulled my harness someone could use it as a template to make a new one but its so chopped up, I think it would be a useless template. Anyhow, shes running great again and I was able to plow my driveway. First time Ive gotten to work this machine and its a beast. Im completely amazed at how much snow this tractor will push and it does it with ease. Definitely got to get my new tires mounted up soon. The front end pushes all over the place with a full blade of snow. On a positive note, I don't think there is another 1864 in the world with a fuel system as clean as mine! The carb was cleaned 4 times today, lol.

Glad you got it going. MTD should be ashamed for what they call a wiring harness. Pretty much every Cyclops I work on I just take the harness and toss it, way too many connections and way too many things to go wrong, then I just make my own. Again glad you got it running.

Yeah I may have to wind up doing that since no one makes a harness.
Thanks again for your help. if I hadn't started playing around with that solenoid, I never would have found the wiring problem.

My 1864 is the same way. Every safety has been bypassed. The wires to all the lights have been clipped and I have a fairly large connector hanging under the dash that dosnt have a place to plug into to. Cant for the life of me figure out what its suppose to do or where it goes.

I can't post what I do to my own stuff. About all I can say is that I start with the factory wiring diagram and then I decide what I don't want or need. Then I draw it up. Then it's time to start running wire.

A few days ago there was a 1864 harness on evil-bay. It was not cheap, but may save a lot trouble for you.

I don't think replacing what I have with another stock harness will really be the best option. Thanks for the heads up though.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
