brjr51 - Your 102 looks great!!! I really like the Vredestein V61 tires up front. They balance out with your Tru Powers in the rear. Looks cool.

Thanks for the kind words fellas. I really would like to thank all of you and this great site for helping me learn about these things. A few months ago, I hardly knew one Cub from another. Now I've got another great hobby. I'm already looking for another, I enjoyed this restore so much.

I've located an Original and a 70 for sale close by, unfortunately finances will only support one right now. Something about those early Cubs with skinny tires and no fenders do it for me, I just have to decide which one.

Hello Jeff,
I'm sitting here and all I can think of is "Elf Bowling"
and some J.D. guy thinking his tractor is BIG enough to knock them all down.
GREAT photo!!!!!!!!
You made my day!!!!!!!!!

Default My 108, #2 cart and blade

Hi everyone,

It took me awhile, but I read all the posts in this thread - really enjoyed seeing all the Cubs!

This is a recent acquisition for me, my first ever Cub, a 1973 108 which came with a #2 cart and a 42" blade. The PO inherited it from his great aunt, who was the original owner. It was always kept indoors, but hasn't been run in several years. I'm hoping to get it started soon.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
