When I bought my new # 2185 the gentleman told me that the right side coil HAD to be re-placed. The knit-wits that designed the twin cylinder should have been flogged & castrated.

One MUST disconect the engine from the frame, pull it forward, then pull the shroud to get to them coils. Slowly & more slowly a friend & I did it. He's done it before so it all came back to him. he suggested I re-place both. So thats what we did. Cost of the coils wasn't that bad at $ 57.00 each. But now the engine PURRRRRRRRRs.
After 2 1/2hrs. later.
Hardest part was dis-conecting drive shaft & all those rubber thingys coming out & trying to re-conect it.

Cub Cadet dealer wanted $ 400.00 plus parts for the job.

I've done a bunch of them. I don't think it's all that hard to do. Trick with the blue plastic barrels is to stick them in the drive cup with some grease. Glad you got it going.

Yup, that's exactly what we did.

It took as long as it did because I insisted in doing all the work. Heck if it happens again I think I can do it without my buddy's guidance.

Eric and I did mine on my 2084 but without moving the engine forward we took the battery and holder out, removed the firewall and had only just enough room to replace both the coil and a mouse chewed wire that runs between the two coils. Your way gives you plenty of room to replace and set the gap.

Today I hauled 2 trailer loads of top soil to fill some low spots in my yard. Hauls these from about a mile down the road and the 1572 handled it with ease.
