Default Helping out...

Today I used my 1000 to mow my next door lady's yard along with a couple other neighbors. Her husband is in the sand over the waters serving our proud country and someone stole their lawn mower. After we were finished the neighbors gathered around my pride and joy complementing how smooth she ran and how well she took on the tall grass!!!

Today I took inventory of just how little I actually know about Cub Cadets...cursed the rain...made plans to go to the Rock River Thresheree in Edgerton WI tomorrow...tried to figure out whether the 3-point I bought for my 1811 can be made to work with my 108 . Pacified SWMBO [i.e. cleaned up the oil spill from disassembling the K301 that came with my 108]. Decided maybe I should offer that 3-point [388? 389?] for the 1811 up for sale since I just can't see plowing with a hydro [and I have the parts for the OEM hitch for the 108].

Then tried to figure out why the PTO belt in the 108 has so much offset in it [the idler pulleys on the tensioner sit a couple inches forward of the PTO pulley and the belt kinks where it runs on and off the PTO pulley]...but that probably has to do with the 'replacement' [8hp? 6hp? dunno] engine in the 108 and/or the belt is stretched way beyond it's useful service life...will worry about that after I get the K301 installed.

Welded up the exhaust on my new 1811! I had heard a rattle and an exhaust leak when I went to look at it before I bought it. Took a chance and bought it anyway and found the issue right away when I got it home. The end cap on the muffler was loose and rattling. I got it tac welded all the way around and now it purrs like a kitten!!

Looks good Todd. You guys got alot more rain than us in Iowa. My grass went from dead to green in about two days. Now I'm almost having to mow twice a week. I can imagine how fast your grass is growing. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Thanks guys. Yah, we went from brown grass to green and growing like crazy almost over night after it rained. Now it's raining a couple times a week one extreme to the next.
It's ok, it'll be dropping in temperature soon enough and snowing, so no complaints on mowing lawn

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
