About a month ago I bought a 127 with the intention of fabricating a blade on it to push snow. It had a blown head gasket and was missing part of the pto. When I got it home I put a new head gasket in it and had it running fairly well minus the smoke. After doing some looking into an overhaul kit and new pto, I quickly found out it would be cheeper to get a parts tractor to fix it up right. After posting on craigslist, a guy from Minnesota called me and told me he had a 123 parts tractor, a running 127, IH blade, and snow thrower if I was interested.
by Bob Coakes, on Flickr Well after the long haul last weekend to get them, they sat in the garage all week just waiting to get worked on. by Bob Coakes, on Flickr On Saturday, I got the old smoking block out of the 1st 127, changed its front axle with the 123's, put the 123's motor in the 127, got the sucker running, and mounted the blade. I still need to get some lights fabricated for it, but I having a feeling that I'll have plenty of time to get it done before it snows here. by Bob Coakes, on Flickr by Bob Coakes, on Flickr by Bob Coakes, on Flickr by Bob Coakes, on Flickr Future plans are to rebuild the pto from two broken ptos I have and depending on how much snow we get, put the snow thrower on the 2nd 127 who is still on mower duty. by Bob Coakes, on Flickr |

Mulched some wet leaves and grass with the 1864. Dad cut up the rest of the Maple that was in the rental yard and I hauled it back to the shed.

Thanks Todd! I am not going to lie, the front was a little light! Time to put that other 50# weight on. I was able to back that cart uphill into the woodshed on wet grass with no problems.

I know I am not going to be the most popular guy on here for this, but I did prepare for the "white stuff today." When you and your wife are full time employees and are raising 3 grade school aged boys, you have to take the time to do things when you have the time.
I bought a plow for the "newer" 782 this spring and put it on today. Then also extended the paddles on the 2-stage walk-behind snow blower. Hopefully it won't clog now with the wet stuff. Then I got to looking at the "older" 782, that will have the dual hyd removed to put on the "newer," and realized the engine on it is actually a Magnum series instead of a series 2 like I had thought. Guess it actually pays to actually look at what you have. But, I think the "older" must be a church go'r because the fender pan and frame are "holey." The PO(s) has/have drilled so many holes in this thing its probably the lightest (weight) 782 in all the Midwest.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
