Now that the tractor is done I got into the engine that was in it when I bought it. So far it looks like the exhaust valve guide has walked up in the head so the exhaust valve wouldn't open. That explains the bent push rod for the exhaust still don’t know why the intake was also bent. Also looks like something got smashed into the top of the piston on number 1 cyl because it has a dent in it. Who ever worked on it in the past used exhaust gaskets for the intake partially blocking the intake ports on one side and not sealing on the other side. It has at least 2 broken teeth on the ring gear. I also think it may have a governor problem because when I did have it running it wanted to over rev so I am going to pull the front cover and take a look. Not sure it is worth saving at this point, have to see what it will cost for parts.

A couple pics of the two 1641's together. Still need to get the side panels on them after I paint them yellow.

Oem is boring , any thing that has been done correctly,(modification, & or improvement or just cosmetic dressing up, makes each one an individual, & an original ! Black jack 1 , nice , black jack 2 nice ; one builder that thinks & does work great & a wife that puts up with him playing with tractors all the time ...

Sweet , Sam , you better take her out to dinner soon before she hits you with her purse ( or as we call it " law" ladies assault weapon )

Great work Sam

P.s do you or would you build for others , my co-worker would like to know?

I take good care of the Honey.

As far as doing one for someone else it would depend on what he wants done.

The one with the yellow frame has provisions for lights. I have better things to do in the dark.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
