Continued progress on the 148R.
Finished the engine and rebuilt and installed the PTO. Cut the driveshaft to work with the creeper gear, and installed the driveline clutch and set the engine. New dash tin and tunnel cover decal installed. Rebuilt the Walbro carb, replacing all the welch plugs. I did discover that the ignition coil location on this engine (out of a 147) interferes with the frame from the 108. I will have to relocate. Some pics...

getting things back together. won't be long before its up and running. Carb, coil and s/g installed. The prior owner couldn't get the tractor to start, thinking it was the ignition switch, took that and the starter relay off, and miswired the relay when he put it back. Fixed that, and confirmed the relay is working. A few grounds, a battery, fuel tank and it should start. This week I think.

The PO didn't realize that there were two starter interlock switches and the PTO switch would not close due to the loss of the little spring lever, so he thought it was the ignition switch. I couldn't find a replacement spring lever, so I've bypassed that particular switch. Retained the clutch pedal switch. I know some (actually most) of my cubs do not have a PTO interlock. So I think this is OK.

Getting oh-so-close. Tried to button up the dash tower before I install the fuel tank. Installed the light switch and wired it with a fuse. Verified proper operation (but have not installed any lights yet). Installed a new battery. Painted the fuel tank straps. Pulled the plug and cranked the engine over, got good spark. Installed a new muffler.
Next up is fuel tank, fuel and first start-up. After paying for someone else to sandblast parts, I finally broke down and bought a sand blast cabinet--the 40lb cabinet Harbor Freight had on sale for $200. Took me like 4 hours to assemble it! Got it up and running and using 70 grit alum oxide media. My 30 year old craftsman 30gal/3hp compressor runs constantly and seems to do a credible job, but I think a 5 or 7 hp two-stage would be better. I used it to clean up the side covers and tank straps before painting them.
