I'm still trying to work out all of the issues with the snowthrower.

The discharge 'chute was very difficult to rotate. Took it all apart last week and found a lot of old lube and dirt clogging things up. So I cleaned it all, painted the parts that were beginning to look pretty corroded. Spread some super lube on the mating parts and reassembled. It rotates sweetly now.

One of the QA pins was welded in crooked so I couldn't get one of the lock bolts in - it was just slightly off; just enough to keep me getting the bolt threaded in. Duly "adjusted."

Also had the wear edge off. It isn't the standard edge; it's just a plate of steel. It was bent and worn and the bolts were ground down - had to grind a couple off. Bent it flat again, painted it and remounted it this weekend with a fresh edge down. Also adjusted the skids to allow 1/2-inch or so of clearance. Probably too low.

I'm waiting for parts for the gear box, but I went ahead and put in the inner bearings and the seals.

I had planned to mount some chains on the other tractor's rear wheels and swap 'em. They're 8.5-inch turfs and I thought they'd be better for snow duty if filled. They have tubes because they wouldn't hold air. Turns out they won't hold the tubes either; one of them is split right down the center of the tread. So I'll have to rethink that (or buy new tires.) I let some of the air out to avoid ruining the tubes.

I finally got the rockshaft out of the 1211, it was froze and wouldn't let the plow float. I got it all cleaned up and added some grease fittings so I don't ever have to take it out again, it took about 4hrs to get it out.

Replaced the OEM Firestones with set of Carlisle All Trail tires on the 127. Each tire is loaded with 5 gallons of water and 8 ounces of dawn dish soap.

I used the water dish soap mix when I bought the tractor 15 years ago. As you can see in the pictures the fluid was murky and the rim is not rusted. I believe this to be dirt from the tire and paint removed from the rim. A sample was put in the freezer and it does indeed freeze solid.

Got the muffler put on my 782 with command swap finally. So much nicer actually having a muffler and being able to put the side shields back on. Now I need to find a lower muffler shield I have the upper. And new tires I'll be set!

Put the dozer blade on my 1250 today to have a try at some 3 inch snow that was getting wet and nasty. Expected I might be wasting my time due to lack-o-traction. Actually it did quite well. Could have pushed a bigger blade.

I got my new inner/outer valve cover and engine breather gaskets and did a valve adjustment on the old 102. Cleaned up the engine breather components. Surprisingly, everything look good with no rust from all these years. I was dreading what this area of interior of engine looked like, considering what the oil looked, when I drained and replaced with fresh.

Right now all gas had been drained/battery removed for winter storage, so didn't do a startup.

Next on agenda is transaxle fluid change.

Will know in couple months if all the maintenance/repairs I've done to the ole girl pays off. She did run with the new carburetor I put on right after getting it.

Thanks for the kind words DeltaCub and darkminion. I inherited the 1250 from dad who bought it new in 1980 (?) I've been keeping it going with repairs as needed. New muffler, gas tank, battery cables (had a welding cable made up for the long one and that took care of that - had to remove the fenders to get at it), my neighbor gave me a gelcell battery from a scooter (the best battery it's ever had - probably been in there for 10 years), rear axle seals (it sat for a few years and they started leaking when I brought it out of hibernation), PTO switch (same model used on several different tractors), narrow front rims from an older model with wheelbarrow tires (needed for clearance with the snow blower), optional headlights and top grille (didn't bother with the taillights and used an auto parts switch - did install the fuse and holder - there was a hole for it), new release button for the lift lever (took a while to figure out it's threaded), wood roller and drive belts for the mower deck and it's in bad need of what will be the third set of mower blades.

The original engine gave up the ghost a few years back. I found an NOS unit that was apparently made as a direct replacement 10 years after the tractor was built. Also replaced the plastic driveshaft fan which had blades missing. Should have replaced the motor mounts. Found some this year and will wait for warmer weather to do the install.

Last year I needed a new pulley for the mower deck. The kid behind the counter insisted Cub Cadet never made a 1250. I told him it was older than he was and to look again. They had to order it but I got my pulley.

Glad parts are still findable and wish I had a new seat and a power lift maybe. I use it mainly for mowing and hauling leaves with an IHC cart also from dad. Probably more than you wanted to know. Thanks for the forum.
