I decided to get the motor in the donor 2072 running today. I swapped heads, intake and exhaust and It wouldn't start. Bad starter. Grabbed the starter from the other m20 sitting on the bench. Another Bad starter..
So I pulled both starters apart hoping they had different problems and I got lucky. I was able to get a good one out of the 2. Cleaned it all up, re lubed the bushings, reassembled and painted it. Threw it back in with sticky paint and it fired right up. Sounds good. No smoke. Tomorrow I'm going to clean it up and get it in the shiny one.

I got her put back together and took her for a spin around the yard. I think I have a problem with the pump or trans or both. when I start it there's a sound coming from the pump almost like a rattle. When I put it in reverse at anything less than idle it makes a grinding noise like a manual shift with no clutch . Once into reverse it goes fine and back to forward without any issue. The P.O. I got this from said everything worked great until he hit a big rock while mowing and the motor stopped. Well I know the motor stopped because the Governor gear broke and took the cam and a rod with it. But did he kill the trans as well? I guess I'll pull the rear out and see whats loose in there before I try to use it any more.

Almost forgot pics. I still need to find a seat and get some stickers for it. But I think it looks pretty nice considering I don't know what I'm doing.

I think I got the trans working. I pulled the hydro filter and it was almost empty so I put another new one on it and fired it up for a minute and it was quiet. I topped off the fluid and took it for a ride and all went well, until it warmed up and the governor started surging.

Actually this thing is pretty sweet. I adjusted the carb and got rid of the surging. I hooked the wagon up and took the kids for a ride on the game trails for a half hour or so and it didn't miss a beat. Plenty of power, seems to have a little more speed than the 2182 did.

I got the stickers on it the other day. Iv'e been working on another GT I bought but I Picked up the power angle parts for the 2072 today from the sandblaster and should have em painted up and put on it soon.

I heard from the Doctor yesterday. My ins co. denied my surgery authorization. They said is wasn't medically necessary to do the disk replacement so It looks like ill have to have it fused.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
