I'm back at it. I had Jeff make a new driveshaft out of 1144 stressproof and it turned out awesome. Thanks again Jeff for the quick turnaround time, your work is amazing. Here is what he used.https://www.mcmaster.com/#6628K344

He made the shaft as per my drawing so I had him make the 5/8 ends a little long so I could cut them for a good tight fit. That was a good thing because I had the hole for the 3/8 roll pin off a little and I had to trim a little off of the pump side.

The 3/8 carriage bolts for the front adapter went MIA and I couldn't find grade 5 ones anywhere except McMaster but I didn't want to wait and pay that much to have them shipped only needing 2 so I used regular grade 5 bolts. I had to shim out the adapter with washers as seen here. Do any of you see a problem doing this?

The back side fit great. I used all grade 8 on everything else but I only had grade 5 nylon lock nuts and also used blue thread locker on everything.

I also added an oil pressure gauge and had to move the hour meter.(I know, it looks a little ghetto) I'll make a nicer bracket when I have some spare time.

I tried to keep as much original paint on this tractor as I could so I wet sanded, buffed and polished that last few rainy weekends we had.

That's all I could do today. Maybe I'll get some time this week to do a little more.

Thanks guys. Mj, thanks for the offer but I don't want to tear it apart again. McMaster has then so I guess I need to get a list of things needed around the shop and place an order.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
