These are SWEET look'n Cubs!!! Nice guys!

I have been working at my cab on the 982 that I have modified. Didn't like the slanted front on the Sims cabs - so its now vertical like they should be in my opinion.

While I had the fender pan off the 1641 to replace the fuel lines and fix the deck stop I decided to do something to the rusty pitted footrest. I have a small sandblaster that I went over them with the sprayed the with Rusty Metal Primer. I found some Rustoleum Marigold That looked close so I painted the bottom and sides with it. After it dried I taped off the footrest area and sprayed two coats of Rustoleum Truck Bed Coating on it. After the last coat I removed the tape and the liner had wicked back under the tape and it looked like crap. I just decided to spray the whole top side with the bed coating. It's hanging in the laundry/mud room drying now. I didn't actually do all this today. Painting in the winter without a heated shop is a PITA. I bring the part and paint in the house, let it get warm, take it to the garage and paint it then bring it back in to dry. The next step is to hunker down for the complaints about the paint smell. Picture of the footrest before the coating shows the pitted top. Picture of them hanging from the cabinets in the laundry room drying. I probably won't put them on till tomorrow.

Had to troubleshoot my non-charging issue with my 122. Ended up re-wiring most of the tractor while I had it apart.

Yes, all the wires are the same color, which isn't perfectly ideal, but I had the wiring on hand already so stuck to this as a free upgrade.

Jury is still out on if my charging issue is fixed... not been able to go back out to check on it since re-wiring it. Maybe tonight... My luck, it'll be the voltage regulator.

I'm going to have to give myself an unsatisfactory grade on this project. After about 2 hours of drying the coating had cracked and was lifting up. I took a putty knife and pealed it back off. It was stuck better over the primer bu came off easily over the yellow paint. All the products are Rust Oleum so I think it must be something I did. The paint was on a full day before I sprayed the coating, who knows. Think I'll wait for a warm day to try again. Or I may abandon the Truck Bed Coating all together. Picture after scraping it all off.

Pretty close... Used my iPhone's panorama feature to get the photo while sitting about 1' away from the tractor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
