782D next to big brother
File pic sent to me of my 782D next to his big Brother but I did not get the hub caps when we sealed the deal! Darn the hard luck!

impulse buy
My Dad bought a 125 back in 67 and I've kept it going all these years. I've rebuilt the 12hp Kohler 3 times and am at 30 over on the piston. I can't seem to find anyone around here (East Texas) that will resleve the cylinder. Seems new rings would be my best option. It burns from full to add on the dipstick about every tank of gas and when I start it it's like riding my bicycle behind the DTD mosquito truck when I was as kid. So I'm browsing craigslist and see a 1450 for sale not to far from here. I'ts pretty rusty but I throw the dice and call the guy and buy it sight unseen violating every tennant on online purchases of motor vehicles. The guy even delivered it, so I get to work, changed all the fluids, filter, coil had positive side hooked to the points and condensor, put an inline gas filter on it. I used my mig to fix stess cracks in the muffler box and welded in some 20 guage patches over the places where the metal had disappeared. Tear the deck down and use Eastwood Rust Encapsulator on the plate and everywhere else. Bought a quart of Cub Beige at TractorSupply and hardner and paint everything. The hood was pretty rusted so I painted that and the front too, needed a muffler and got a used PTO and now it runs like a sewing machine (hour meter reads right at 350 hrs.) and goes through places that would bog down the 125 with narry a complaint. It must have all it's 14hp. and in fairness to the 125 the deck is wider on the 125. The ISO mounts (which this forum has been a big help with, thanks!) look ok but the next project is to perform the modification to the motor mount rails. I wish I'd taken a before photo. btw, my first post here, been a Cub guy since 68 when my Dad bought the 125, even found the receipt and as I rememeber it was $1,600 back in 68 or 9. He gave me lots of advice but one of the best ones was "you get what you pay for". yeah I know the air filter cover is supposed to be black but the cub yellow was the best paint I had at the time. I also am restoring a 74 Alfa Romeo Spider and have a restored 74 Alfa GTV as my daily driver. Heck everything I have is old, even my boat is an 86 MasterCraft.
