I want to install a belt driven tiller on a 1641
Hello everyone. I have a 1993 1641 tractor that I recently refurbished and I am looking to put a tiller on. I was wondering if I can use a belt driven tiller instead of one with its own motor on it.
I know I need to add a rear lift/sleeve hitch to the tractor and looking on line I feel that is the easy part. What I don't know is what tiller I can use, what parts are needed to connect the tiller to the tractor and if I can use the existing front PTO and a belt for powering the tiller. Assuming all this is possible; I am hoping it is because I see other older wide frames with a belt powered tiller. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. thanks |

You will need to do a bunch of fabricating. Sleeve hitches were not an option on the cyclops. The 389 cat 0 hitch was the only hitch available and the only tiller was the self powered 400.

Not that Hard to do
If You don't Have a Cat 0 You Can buy one here http://www.xtrememotorworks.com/3-Po...Cub-Cadet.html Then You will need to add these Parts to a Number 2 Tiller http://www.xtrememotorworks.com/Tiller%20Parts.html The Top Kit In the Link Keep the front Mule drive from Mowing deck sub frame The Major Issue will be sizing the Belt from front PTO to rear gear Box which You Have Mounted to the 3 Point Frame I think it the same Belt that was used On the 1210/1211 & 1212 If You use the aftermarket 3 Point Hitch In the Link it is actually Not to Bad to do. But You'll still need that rear Gear Box which is about $250 On evil-Bay

Good call Sergeant. I forgot about that adapter being an option. Does anyone have this setup and how well does it work? I'd like to see some pics of it installed too. I've got a few belt drive tillers around and need to find a use for them.

I have that kit. Sold the tractor but the guy didn’t want the tiller. Sorry, no pics either. It worked well for what it was. I’d recommend a dedicated tiller tractor. It is pretty easy to put on and take off but still isn’t the convenient thing.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
