1864 pump on iron 782 rear?
Does anyone know if the pump from a 1864 can be used in place of the hydro pump on a castiron 782 rearend? I would like to use a CV 1864 drive shaft with a splined coupler to the hydro for my 1512/782d rebuild while changing the rear from an aluminum to a cast iron. Thanks

Think you will find that the 1864 shaft is too long. The 1864 fits in the 1772's when doing the conversion. My guess is that what ever shaft you use will need to be shortened. Best way that I know of is to cut it sleeve it and weld it.

Thanks Sam. I have the shaft so I hope to use it if I can shorten it with out screwing it up too bad. I will probably have to purchase another cv/kubota engine adapter from you if you still have them. The cv conversion on my 1572 is still working awesome.

Jeff in PA is now making the adapters. Kind of hate to see you chop the 1864 shaft, they are getting hard to come by for the conversions like you did on your 1572. I'd pick one up from a 1541 1440 or 1641 and chop it. Once you get the engine set in place with the adapter and the pump in with the adapter measure the distance between them and let me know what it is. I can work with Jeff to make it for you if that works for you.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
