Default Make a tiller

Has anyone ever attempted or made a homemade tiller. I cant seem to find a tiller attachment for a decent price. The ones I find people are asking $450 for and I think thats way overpriced. So I started brain storming and think that it might be possible just using the a gear box and some parts to a beat up old rear tine tiller.

Looks like you and I are on the same page. Originally I wanted one for my
Mass/Ferg
But that is talking big money and I don't usually have what you would call a huge garden. Honestly I would be happy at this point to drop 400 on one for the cub. Would be nice though to use some imagination to save the pocket book. Let me know what you find out, and good luck

We are on exact same page. I'm searching CL for ANY tiller attachment. I just cant find the IH attachments. I emailed a guy that has on for a MF. I think I may buy a gear box and start from there.

Yeah $450.00 is a little high. Even here in the land of no Cubs I have managed to procure 3 tillers for myself.

Admittedly two of the three were mounted and working on the backs of tractors. I think I had to pay $280.00 for the one that I bought by itself.

Be patient... They are out there and they will be showing up on epay and craigslist when we get a little closer to springtime.

I have a 42" tiller on my 125 and would be willing to sell! Where are you located in New York?

I'm in southeast NY about an hour outside of NYC. It would be a heck of a drive just for a tiller. Thank you for the offer though

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
