Default Wondering about my newest acquisition

It is my opinion that all cub cadet 109's manufactured between 1971 and 1974 carry the serial numbers of 400001 to 529811. Mine has a serial number of 2050044U310945*. Can someone point me in the right direction to find the right way to decipher these numbers? Thanks. Carpetbagger

That serial number comes back to September of 69 310945 is the serial.

Kind code is 044 which is correct for 109.

I'm guessing you used tractor data to get your year range. The information there is less than accurate to be nice about it

Could you be reading the serial number wrong? Maybe the 3 is actually a 5, making it 510945, which would be correct for a 109.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
