Default XT2 Push Button No Start

Thanks for the add. Im sure this is on here somewhere but I haven't founde a solution yet.

Have a 2 yr old XT2 with the ZKohler engine and push button start. However when I try to start the machine I get the lights and the hours but nothing else. All safety switches seem to be working since if I don't press the brake, sit in the seat, or have the PTO on i get the warnings from the computer as such.

Battery is new and charged with trickle charger. Have tried two different soloniods with no luck (bench tested both and they do work). Traced all wires as far as I can which all look fine. Also good fuse off the battery and clean ground.

I can jump the starter and machine runs as normal all day long and I can use the push button to stop the engine.

I'm at my wits end here, does anyone else have something I haven't thought of besides replacing the computer?

We have what is called a Statutory Warranty in Australia where equipment has a manufacturers warranty but something like that switch has an expected life and the expected life would be more and so it is covered by the manufacturer , this stops a lot of planned obsolesence

Thanks everyone. I will check on the warranty once I remember where i put the paperwork. I'd still like to know what my issue is since I have been working on this thing for weeks.

If you registered the warranty when you bought it, CC will have all the info they need.

Same issues here Pat80 on my XT2..investigated same as well..Looks as if we landed in the warranty forum instead of the diag assistance, recommendation page. Feel free to reach out if you've made any progress. I would be interested to learn of your findings.

Maybe if Cub Cadet would publish a Wiring Diagram and a Service Manual, for that model, we could offer assistance. Since that information is unavailable to us, and the tractor is under an OEM warranty, that recommendation is the only viable solution.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
