Just picked up 1650 with Kwik-Way Loader

I just picked up a clean but ugly 1650 with a Kwik-Way Loader. I have been looking for quite some time and finally found one at what I thought was a fair price.

The tractor starts, runs, and drives well and the loader seems to work well. The shielding for the engine and muffler is all intact and not broken, the engine mounts seem tight and the hydro works very well. It came with 23X10.50X12 Tru Powers. front tires look fairly new, some large solid cast iron wheel weights and a large weight box on the back. The tractor is complete and the tin is straight. The loader needs the hyd oil flushed and changed as it is milky and some of the hoses need replaced. I plan on replacing the bad hoses tomorrow and I will fill the loader with some used Hi tran I have run it and dump it and then do it again before filling with new fluid. I also think I will add a filter to the return line. Next change the filter and oil in the rear end, change the engine oil and it should be ready to work. The wife already has plans for using it in the lawn and her flower gardens.

I am not really a fan of the quiet line tractors but this one starts and runs so well I may just keep it. I do have thoughts of putting the loader on a 782 I have after I add power steering and one inch front spindles. I guess I will wait and see how I like it before I decide. I also need to check the hours on the hour meter as I think the way it runs and drives it may not have a lot of hours on it.

It is rather ugly, but the cool of the loader over powers the ugly by a long way.
Should be a happy man Tom. You "need" it, and the wife wants to use it. Seems like a win win to me.

I call it a win when the wife is enthused about my toys. Truth of the matter she will probably use it more than I do. After looking it over better I am going to replace all of the hyd lines. a couple are leaking st the swivles and most are weather checking bad. Rather be safe than sorry.

Loaders on GT's are asking for trouble IMHO. That said, if your going to let your wife use it, make sure she understands center of gravity, and how to operate a loader. Figure out the suitable load weigh for it and everything before letting her use it. Nice flat open space is one thing. If you have hills that's another. I don't want this to end up a bad story because of ignorance. That tractor doesn't have any rollover protection. Also, one big advantage to the little SCUT tractors is they are most always 4X4. With the front locked in, it makes the drive system more stable. Brakes work, drive system pulls and helps stop because the front and rear drives are tied together. On that cub.... decent size load on the bucket, somewhat uneven terrain on a slope. One tire loses traction, and now it's an unstoppable rolling machine (for an inexperienced operator). Unless your wife has been operating machinery for a while...... well... whatever. It's your tractor, and your wife.

Learn to keep the bucket as close to the ground as possible and be ready to drop the bucket at all times.
