Default 125 Linkage Problem

My problem lies in the carb linkage and or govenor settings. At 3/4 throttle it will lope and throttle down. If you watch the linkage that connects on the top of the carb, its jumping back and forth. If you hold that linkage you can steady the lope and it runs steady. Let go and back running crazy. Where should I start?

Thanks.

Do you have all the springs in the correct holes?
Governor and carb adjusted properly?

Check the service manual.

Is this an issue that just started. Worked on it before? Throw out a little more information and folks can probably work you thought it.

I had sent the carb off to be rebuilt. I believe I reinstalled and adjusted it although, it also back fires now a bit if you quickly throttle back. I'll recheck everything.

Seems like the governor is chasing and, with the backfires, the engine is running lean. Does it help when you richen the carb? Or, for diagnostic purpose, you could pull the choke out a little and see if it helps.

OK, I'll try that. 7 degrees, might not start.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
