Barn Find 09 GT2544.......ovedue maintenance!
Hello
Just "barn" find... An 09 GT2544 with 42 hours on it... Been parked in garage for 15 yrs... oils are clear, like new. I've greased what I could. Some points would not accept grease...like the lower steering point...zerk was clear but still wouldn't take the grease...fixable? What else should I do to it? Change the fluids and filters? Thanks. |

That grease fitting is pressed in.
If you can pry it out, new ones are available. Part #937-3000 |

The lower steering fitting was threaded, I took it out and its accepting grease no problem. whatever is behind that fitting is clogged with old grease, maybe. The fittings on the steering pins are pressed in and one is missing... perhaps part 937-3000, will look into fixing that...Thanks...

By lower fitting do you mean the one behind the engine or the one underneath next to the gear segment ?
If memories serves correct there is 10 grease nipples (zerks) 50 inch deck Also half way down the steering shaft behind dash panel is another point to lube Change all fluids Oz

I have found that the best way to enjoy a new find in the barn
is to just start going through it. Sounds like you are on your way. All fluids changed and a good cleaning. The more you explore the more fun you have. Congratulations. Ken |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
