Now what...more electrical issues
While mowing, the nut fell off of a deck wheel on the 1250. Pulled into the garage and shut it off. Put the wheel back on, turned the key and nothing! No click. No response, nothing. Maybe the brake safety switch. You can hear the PTO click on.

Is the PTO switch completely off? I would assume it's a safety or loose connection, time to get out the meter and start testing.

Sound like the old “wiggle the PTO switch while turning the start switch”. Seen a lot of those, almost like a safety switch to keep people from starting a cub if they didn’t know the trick.

There is no noise when you turn the key. With the key on, I flipped the PTO switch and heard it click on. Makes me assume that the PTO switch is working.

Ok... so you have power. Did you check that neutral switch is being met?

Turn the key to the start position and then jiggle the pto switch when it is in the off position. Still no starty?, start checking the connections with a meter.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
