Default 126 with no Creeper question...

I'm looking at getting a 126 that someone pulled the creeper gear and driveshaft from.. If I don't want to have the creeper, what parts will I need to get it going again?? I haven't seen it... is there a cover panel or something to block off where the creeper was or ???? Same guy has a creeper he's willing to sell for $300 but I can't afford that right now..

It'll be my first gear drive project....gonna have to start learning about clutches and narrow frame driveshafts now... ... lol..

No it sets under the tunnel out of sight except for the lever that sticks up through the slot.

The only thing that is different is the driveshaft between a Cub with or without a creaper. The creaper bolts to the front of the transmission cover.

Any narrow frame driveshaft will work in your 126.

Clutches are easier to work on than a hydro trans.

The creaper unit was design to slow a Cub down to use a tiller or a snow thrower only. They are not design to pull a load.

Thanks for the help guys.. Unfortunately the seller seems to have disappeared... His craigslist ads haven't but he is no longer replying to my emails. And I was looking forward to some quality wrenchin' time on a gear tractor.. and maybe even being able to pull in the bone stock class when the garden tractor pulls come to town. I really don't want to abuse my 1200 as it is the mower of choice for my lawns..

The hunt is back on!

Well, wouldn't ya know.. the seller called me late last night and we met today. I got to meet a nice young man with quite the collection of Cadets.. He's selling a 123 and a 127as well, wants 300 for one and 400 for the other that is ready to mow..

Loaded up the new 126/ 107 (someone has applied a 107 decal to one side to confuse folks...) and a 48 inch deck, and now for lots of questions.. I will post a separate post in the wanted section for all it needs...tank, mount for tank, mounts for fender, and a driveshaft with rear coupler..and I'm sure more as it looks as if it was a parts tractor for a while..

Tires are typical cracked original tires, steering wheel is real nice, center is yellowed out but there, and the left steering arm is whooped. Typical play in the ross box too. Came with a seat pan and a seat cover for it. It has teh same fender setup as the wide ones, with typical OOPS dent on the left rear.

There is a huge spring on the left side under the seat with an L bracket, and a lift bar on the right side. The seller pointed out all the same parts on a three point tractor he had, so I am thinking I can actually have a three point if I find the lower bracket and the big casting that the sleeve hitch goes into. (I'll learn all the right terminology eventually..lol..)

My camera seems to have hidden so no pics, but I will post when I get home to Coleman. (I might even post a pic of the 1200 that started all this..)

Yellow disease is uncureable. Might as well enjoy it. :biggrin2.gif:

Does he have anything else with a gear drive for sale? I've already got 4 hydros and now I want something with a clutch.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
