The year is what matters. The neutral return is in the same place on a ported vs nonported if they're the same year.

Interested in this thread as I have a 129 that is pretty clean and runs along with an engine less 1650 that I plan to rob the ported pump and hydraulic lift from to transplant onto the 129.. when I got the 129 and checked it out to see if it ran, it lurched heavily forward and I couldn't get it to respond to the hydro control, so in order to get it running without fighting against the starter generator, I took the driveshaft out. I haven't had a chance to get back to the 129 and actually try to figure it out yet (it's down the list a bit) but regardless of what it would take to get the lurch gone I want the hydraulic lift on it anyway. So I'm watching this to see what fun I might be in for when I finally do get to spend some time with the 129.

Why would it say that in the manual? It's just something I figured out.

I think what Roland Is saying.. and what I would also like to see is the "year break" where something was changed. Like show us a manual with one then a later manual with the other. This "if true" would be good info to have.

Mudrig150....the hydro linkage is the same among all of the years and models of the Quietline series. THE only difference is the pedal return spring...later models used a longer spring and in a different area. Linkage adjustments are unique to each tractor and that is probably what you are experiencing. Ported and non ported pumps do make any difference in terms of linkages!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
