Just use the Kohler starters. I have tractors so I have spares. Where are you buying yours? Chinese starters?

Should be under warranty of they are 2 weeks old?

That is pretty high for OEM. I see them new, online for 160.00 with free shipping.

I guess you get what you pay for! Do you know if the number of teeth makes a difference? High torque starter hits hard, things brake! $160 is better but I didn’t pay that for the whole tractor !0!

Talking

You are just a bench grinder away from changing your 10 tooth to a 9 tooth...

HAHA!0! Didn’t really think u could do that! Almost made sense though!! Would have been cheaper than the generation 3 starter with 9 teeth and a welded nut.also a thicker shaft.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
